With the globalizing tendency of information and business,our society has stepped into a new era.With times progressing,English has become one of the most important basic skills to access information.At the same time,the new era calls for new educational notions to keep up with it.Our educational department released The Standard of English Courses for Common Senior High,which calls on us to cultivate and develop students' ability to study by themselves through English teaching.The realization of the requirement is also a challenging research task posed in front of English teachers.Educators from home and abroad carried out a variety of research according to the subject.Guided learning plan,also called teaching with materials' guidance,has been applied to teaching activities in most of the cities and areas.The teaching model has its own advantages,but meanwhile its shortcomings show in teaching practice.The English teaching group in Hegang No.1 middle school bases its research of guided learning plan on the previous ground,combines all factors of English learning,such as students,teachers,textbooks,teaching methods and the social environment of English learning and shapes the teaching model of guided learning plan in the senior high school.The guided learning plan of reading in No.1 middle school includes pre-class,class and post-class plans.In the pre-class guided materials,teachers set different goals for students of different levels according to teaching and learning goals.They also take the difference of the students into account when they design and guide the questions,making it possible for almost all the students to finish the task on the plan and paving the way for the teacher's reading teaching.In this way,teachers can spare more time to analyze the questions raised by students and students can be better involved in learning and discussion.The distinctive feature of the guided learning plan in this school is the post-class plan,through which the students can give a timely feedback of reading skills learnt in class.Whether to students themselves or teachers,the feedback of their learning is always a good basis to adjust their study and teaching.The top class in No.1 middle school applies the guided learning plan model to the teaching of English reading.Most students have made greater progress in reading compared with other classes and they have even improved their independent reading ability.
