| The cultivation of English reading ability is one of the key and difficult points in English learning process. Reading ability is also one of the important indicators in assessing students’ English comprehensive ability and quality. However, reading is one of the major problems in the process of English learning for senior high school students. As a main way of mastering and using English, reading plays a significant role in acquiring information in daily life. Therefore, reading teaching has drawn widespread attention of many scholars and researchers both at home and abroad.In2013the Ministry of Education issued Full-time New English Curriculum Standard of Ordinary Senior High Schools, which made different provisions on reading requirements of different levels and goals. It stipulates that students who achieve the ninth grade reading level should be able to read with the help of a dictionary popular science articles and literature. Since New Curriculum Standard was implemented, English reading teaching in senior high schools has changed a lot in some ways. Scholars and front-line teachers are actively exploring effective ways of English reading teaching methods.Recently, many domestic senior high schools are trying to use Guided Learning Plan Teaching mode. Guided Learning Plan Teaching is a mode in which the teacher first designs learning plans and then students use them to conduct autonomous learning under the teacher’s guidance and support. Cooperation, exploration and discussion can help students fulfill each task in learning plans. Therefore, in order to use Guided Learning Plan Teaching mode to improve English reading teaching effects and students’reading efficiency, the author investigates teachers and the students in Senior One in The Attached High School To Nankai University, which can help find out certain advantages and flaws of this kind of mode. Based on the results of the feedback, the author designed some better learning plans that can meet the needs of reading teaching and learning. In order to prove its effectiveness, the author conducted an experiment in two classes of the same grade. The results showed that the mode of Guided Learning Plan Teaching has far more advantages than the traditional teaching mode. However, when carrying out this kind of teaching mode, teachers should pay more attention to designing guided learning plan and putting it into practice so as to maximize the advantages and effects of Guided Learning Plan Teaching. |
