Research On The Social Work Of Improving Community Integration For Migrant Children

Since the 1980 s,with the continued existence of duality of city and rural areas and the unbalanced economic development between regions continue,the trend of the flow of farmers to the city in a short time will not change,the size of the floating population will continue to expand.Family flows begin to replace individual flows as the main form,which means that migrant children gradually become an important part of the floating population.migrant children face the transition from rural to city social situation,with the seperation from original life network,and the appearance of new living enviromrnt,culture and groups,the original order of life is broken,which increases uncertainty and the inconsistency for children to live in city.Hence,whether the migrant children can be successfully integrated into the new environment not only affects the physical development and mental health of children,the social harmony and stability,but also is the current social problem to be solved.With the development of society,the number of migrant children increased year by year,the government actively purchase community services for the migrant children,helping migrant children has been the consensus of whole society.In this context,in the purpose of helping migrant children to successfully pass adaptation period of city life,and to achieve the integration with the community finally,community workers in Y community launched a migrant children community integration project.In the project pre-period,community workers collect materials through field observation,case interviews and literature and other methods to do the demand analysis and have a understanding of basic situation.In project design period,the service plan for client is designed based on the theoretical supportment of empowerment theory,ecosystem theory,social identity theory and cultural adaptation theory,and the group work mode.In project development period,community workers lanched activities for the service client at the areas of Community orientation,academic,interpersonal and family support,respectively.Such as,awareness and adaptation of the city community cultural and environmental activity enhancement of learning motivation activity "half past four classroom",interpersonal activity "Having you in the life of children",enhancement of community identity,participation activity "One city one family".Through the assessment of the project founded that these activities are useful to help the clients to ease the academic problems effectively,improve interpersonal relationships,identity and adaptability of city.The experience of the project activities shows that the usage of social work professional methods in the migrant children has an advantage both in the form and content,the migrant children has a certain increase in the psychological level of city identity,and learned the skills of how to commuticate with people and slove problems,which helps them to better adapte to the city community environment.It also proves that improving the migrant children's self-confidence peer relationship and parent-child relationship,helping them to understand the humanistic and geographical environment of the city,building their family support network and enhancing their community participation can help the Children to successful intergated to the city community.
