Oral narrative ability is the basic ability of human beings to participate in social life.However,due to their language defect and cognitive deficits,it is difficult for Children with Intellectual Disabilities to develop the narrative ability.Picture Books play an important role in child development in the early years,and its graphic and textures are very attractive to children.Children catch visual information and understand the story.In recent years,Dialogic Reading,as a new type of reading,is springs up.This method can improve children's ability to understand and narrate the picture books to the greatest extent,and enhance children's narrative ability.The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of Dialogic Picture Books Reading on the oral narrative ability of the Children with Intellectual Disabilities.This study adopted a single subject,A-B-A 'design.The independent variable was training on Dialogic Picture Books Reading and the dependent variable was the narratives ability which included the narrative macrostructure ability and microstructure ability.The training materials were 25 selected picture books.The investigation instruments were the revised children's oral narrative macrostructure and microstructure ability investigation tables.The researcher used quantitative method-visual analysis and C statistics,combined with qualitative methods-specific language sample analysis method and social validity analysis method.Data were analyzed to investigate the effect of the training and social validity.The results are as follows:(1)Dialogic Picture Books Reading has immediate effect and maintenance effect on children's narrative macrostructure ability;In the area of specific elements of the narrative structure,Dialogic Picture Books Reading was effective in improving children's performance in the story background,problems the hero faced and results of the story;Children's progress in problem-solving was relatively small,and they especially struggle in expressing the characters' internal(2)Dialogic Picture Books Reading has immediate and maintenance effect on children's increased total number of words,different words and decreased error in sentences.(3)Dialogic Picture Books Reading immediate and maintenance effect on increasing the average sentence length of Children with moderate intellectual Disabilities,but the effect was not significant for Children with mild Intellectual Disabilities.(4)In social validity,Dialogic Picture Books Reading improved children's interests in the picture books as well as comprehensive ability.It also enhanced children's confidence to express themselves and improved their ability to narrate personal experience.The research put forward the following suggestions:teachers should pay attention to the selection and compilation of books,pay attention to the dynamic evaluation and individualized support to Children with Intellectual Disabilities,pay attention to cultivating Children's interest in oral narration,effectively use various ways to promote the thinking of Children with Intellectual Disabilities and improve their oral narrative ability.
