Reading and writing ability is one of the necessary abilities for special children to survive and work.Individual food,clothing,housing and transportation all require special children to have certain reading and writing ability.Therefore,special children need to improve their reading and writing ability with the help of some modern scientific and technological tools in order to better integrate into society.There are two teaching methods of words reading and writing: direct and indirect.The indirect teaching method is to put words into reading.In addition,the Chinese curriculum standard of the school for mental retardation requires that the students of the school for mental retardation should read 18 picture books or books.In this study,the electronic picture books are chosen to teach words reading and writing.This study takes three students with intellectual disabilities as the research subject,and adopts multiple probe across subjects experimental design in the single-subject experimental method to explore the effects of electronic picture books based of teaching-play mode instruction on improving the reading and writing ability of students with intellectual disabilities.Through the self-made electronic picture books were used to teach three students with intellectual disabilities,their improvement effects in reading pronunciation,listening to sound and selecting words,dictation of words and reading comprehension were tested,and their parents and teachers were investigated for social validity after the teaching.Electronic picture books based of teaching-play mode instruction has immediate and maintained effects on improving the ability of intellectual disabilities students to read,listen,choose and dictate words.It has generalized effects on reading comprehension.The interview results of teachers and parents show that it has social effects on improving the reading and writing ability of intellectual disabilities students.It is suggested that electronic picture books teaching should be combined with other vocabulary reading and writing strategies,complement each other,popularize the design of electronic picture books production,carry out cooperative communication,extend the use range of electronic picture books,and practice repeatedly.Suggestions for future research include that research subjects can consider other types of disabilities,increase the number of cases,and optimize research design.
