Reading is the main input for senior students.And writing is an output of language.Actually,reading and writing have a close connection.English wring requires students'integrating skills,so it is difficult for students to handle.There are scores of writing in high school English,among which English character writing is an important and difficult skill for senior high school students.As a matter of fact,it is quite useful in their future study to grasp such character writing skills as introducing oneself,recommending oneself and make curriculum vitae.However,the senior high school teachers separate reading and writing teaching,spending much time in reading than writing.So the study is aimed to find the reading-based writing approach benefited the senior high school students' English character writing ability.There are two research questions in the study:1)Can reading-based writing significantly improve students' use of language and organization related to character writing?2)Can reading-based writing improve students' ability in describing characters in English?The research subjects are from class 213,Ordos No.2 High School.Before the experimental lessons,the pre-test was conducted on Oct.10th,2015 to test the students' character writing level.During three months'training on character writing by reading-based writing approach,the post-test was conducted on Jan.11,2016.After the experimental teaching,the researcher conducted the survey on students use of language and organization and students' ability on character writing.There are three major findings.Firstly,reading-based writing approach has a positive effect on senior high school students' English character writing in terms of language.Secondly,reading-based writing approach is beneficial to the senior high school students' English character writing in terms of organization.Thirdly,reading-based wring approach can improve senior high school students' ability to write characters.There are five chapters in the thesis.The research background,objective and the related research at home and aboard are introduced in chapter one.Chapter two is theoretical Basis.Chapter three delivers a detailed description of the experimental research.Chapter four produces the research results and discussion.The last chapter summarizes the main findings and provides some suggestions on further research.
