With the rapid development of China's economy and politics as well as the globalization,English is playing a vital role.China's English education began late,and although people are now getting more and more aware of the importance of promoting English communicative ability,influenced by a variety of factors,high school students' English communicative ability is still at a low level.What's worse,there appears the dumb English.This paper is a practical study on promoting high school students' English communicative ability.It mainly adopts the research results concerning this topic from famous researchers both from home and abroad as well as the results from questionnaires.In addition,it analyses the research results and statistics to explore the various reasons why high school students are poor in English communicative ability.What's more,it uses experimental method,comparing the English communicative ability of the experimental classes and comparative classes,to study how to promote the high school students' English communicative ability.This paper uses the literature method,questionnaire method and experimental method and analyses the current situation of high school students' English communicative ability and the characteristics of high school students.As a result,the conclusion it draws can be scientific and reliable and can provide some reference for high school teacher's teaching and promote high school students' English communicative ability.
