With the development of secondary vocational education, more and more students go into vocational schools, hoping that they can easily find a good job in the future. But, for various reasons, not many students could master any practical skills upon graduation, especially in terms of the use of English. In response to the Chinese Ministry of Education's call for the implementation of a more vigorous secondary vocational English education, we should attach more importance to students' English skills, especially communication skills, so that they can use English with ease in the future.Taking the quality of students and the demand for jobs in the future into full consideration, this thesis, set in the context of the vocational school that I am teaching, mainly aims at the cultivation of English communicative competence. Drawing on my own teaching experience and the relevant literature, the author tried to combine the communicative teaching method with the task-based teaching method in her teaching. The thesis is structured as follows:research questions are raised after a literature review; relevant teaching theories and principles are put forward; then the actual situation of the vocational school is outlined; the influence of the teacher and other factors on the students'learning and skill acquisition is analyzed; a detailed plan for the administration of the experiment is explained; then the author concludes that the combination of the two methods is effective. But English learning is a dynamic process in which there are inevitable problems, so the author also put forward some suggestions on how to make secondary vocational education more productive and how to improve students'English communication skills.
