| The Peanut is one of the Taiwan writer Xu Dishan’s early creation of classical essays. In 1925, this essay, following published in August 1922 Novel Monthly Vol.13 No.8, was included into the collection of essays Rain in the Empty Mountains.Though short and pithy, this article is rich in meaning and inspirational. Since the period of the Republic of China this article has been selected into the textbook, which has impacted generations of young students. From the historical perspective, the author longitudinally analyzes the reasons for the selection of this article into teaching materials, horizontally analyzes the determination the content of the existing three sets of textbooks(People Education Press version, Changchun version, Beijing Normal University version), and also puts forward his own views on the teaching of this article, in order to make up for the research blank of scholars on the system combing of The Peanut, and hopes to provide a reference for the future teaching.In the first chapter of this paper, the author carries on a systematic analysis to the situation of the selection of The Peanut into Chinese textbooks during the period of "the Republic of China", "Seventeen Years" and " New Period ". The second chapter analyzes the reason of the selection of The Peanut into textbooks in terms of the subject content, artistic form, value orientation and the author Xu Dishan’s words and deeds four aspects. The third chapter discusses change situation and principle issues as The Peanut elected into the textbook, focusing on the comparison of the original version of the Selected Works ofXu Dishan:volume 1 and the rewritten version by PEP. The fourth chapter sums up the teaching content of this article through the analysis of the help-reading system and exercise system of the PEP, Changchun, Beijing Normal University three sets of textbooks. The last chapter proposes author’s own suggestions on teaching on the base of the above analysis of the text. |
