The four sets of new geography teaching material in senior high school, which based on the appearance of the new standard of geography curriculums, offer new chance for our country's innovation of geography education. The new geography curriculums in senior high school orientated to innovation of quality education, and aim at improving teaching quality of high school geography education.The basic ideology of modern teaching theory is to urging the development of students' individual characters and fostering the consciousness and ability of creation by passing on the basic knowledge and principles. High school geography"Compulsoryâ…¢"which is pressed by People Education Press infiltrates this ideology not only in the structure but also in the content.This essay analyzes periodical background, content analyses and teaching strategy of"Compulsoryâ…¢". The contents are as follows:Section 1: Elaborating international and domestic arrangement and development of geography curriculums, research of geography education. It also includes that the position of geography curriculums is improving, that the content of textbook is excellent with various forms, that geography teaching research is innovating and getting mature.Section 2: presenting the characteristics of the new textbook according to creation. The characteristics include: strengthening the development and Inherit of old textbook; proper arrangement of the structure; integrating theory with practice and fostering the students' abilities. The new textbook synchronizes with the times, reflecting the educational ideology: centering on students' development. Section 3: According to the modern teaching ideology and requirement of geography teaching theory as well as researching results, teaching suggestions are introduced as follows:1)Solving the contradiction in teaching between knowledge requirement of new textbook and Knowledge reserves of students.2)Carrying out the teaching ideology of new textbook and making teaching methods various.
