Study On Student Self-Government Organization In American Universities

With the reform of high education and arising decentralization of university autonomy in China,how to balance the distribution of university interior authority has aroused widespread attention.Students are not only educates,but also are an important part in college education system.But students have no right in the entire distribution of powers.Students spontaneously set up the self-government organization to represent the whole students,maintain the interests of students and achieve self-management,self-education and self-service.However,Student Self-government Organization does not reflect the proper role.In addition to interference by external factors,the confusion of operating is an important reason to limit the development of Student Self-government Organization.Both American Student Self-government Organization and Chinese have the same function on behalf of the interests of students.American Student Self-government Organization runs more successfully.Through the analysis and research on interior running of American Student Self-government Organization,it can give us some experience in order to improve the operational level of Chinese Student Union.The study first summarizes the historical development of American Student Self-government Organization which points out features.Student Self-government Organization consists of students who are initiative to promote the development of the organization's core power.Then I collect relevant materials including college Constitution and By-law,Student Self-government Organization Constitution and By-law as well as minutes of meetings to set forth the legal status,functions,structure,running mode and operation mechanism.Afterward I attempt to propose suggestions and countermeasure to the development of Student Self-government Organization.It should respect for the interests of students and allow students to involve in the decision of high-level.It is necessary to distribute internal power and adopt appropriate running mode and operation mechanism.
