Vocational Colleges in our country take cultivate skilled personnel as the main goal, scientific curriculum design is good for students to absorb knowledge and skills.This paper takes Xiamen Ocean Vocational College self-defense option class students as the research object. Analysis from the curriculum objectives, curriculum content design, the implementation of curriculum content and curriculum assessment, through literature review and other research methods, to investigate and research on the development of Xiamen marine school self-defense option class. It was found that the teaching design is not so good, the teaching effect is poor, students learning interest is not high. This investigation and analysis based on the characteristics of students in Higher Vocational colleges, the design is suitable for Higher Vocational Students’ learning self-defense course, to teach students in accordance with their aptitude, it allows students to better absorb the self-defense course content.The purpose of this study is to appeal the higher vocational colleges to strengthen the pertinence and the scientific of the curriculum design. It also provides a theoretical basis and practical suggestions for the teaching design of self-defense course in Vocational Colleges.
