Since <Lesson Standard> has been implemented,in order to improve students’ learning consciousness and ability,school is encouraging the teaching pattern of self-learning,to make the students cultivate the good habit of self-thinking.With the promotion of this new lesson,teachers implemented the spirit of new <Lesson Standard> furthermore.Also more attention is paid to cultivate the self-learning consciousness of the students,and this has been a new topic for teacher to improve personal professional qualities.Especially during the primary English teaching process,most of the teacher are investigating and using self-thinking pattern to improve professional quality.However,due to many factors,like high dependency,poor learning interest,single learning pattern,not enough attention from parents and so on,the studying state and effect of student is not so satisfying,and the teaching level is hard to reach the target of <Lesson Standard>.In view of above backgrounds,to improve self-teaching quality,I made research and practical investigation on <Self-Learning in Primary English>.This article mainly uses the way of questionnaire and case explanation.Beginning is the introduction and theories related with independent learning.Then,starting the questionnaires of independent learning ability on fourth grade students in Sunwu County Primary School.The results showed that the ability of English independent learning in primary school students was limited.And among six indicators,the learning style and motivational attitude were better,but poor performance in other ones,such as self-binding,learning plan,subject to external influence and self-regulation;In additional,it is found that the learning achievement and students ’ independent learning ability are influencing each other.And the independent learning ability of students with good academic performance is better than that of students with poor academic performance.Based on the above findings and author’s teaching experience,also with above theoretical basis,author provides the countermeasures to improve the students’ independent learning ability.Points out that it is necessary to improve the teaching management strategy through teaching strategies,cooperative learning methods,classroom activities and learning guiding.Improve teaching management strategies by democratic classroom management,learning performance management and usage of "assistant".Improving teaching evaluation strategies from classroom evaluation,classroom incentives and after-school evaluation;Finally,double experiments verification proved that proposed strategy to improve students’ independent learning ability in this article is effective,besides,while in the implementation process we should pay attention to individual differences in students and provide different treatment.
