The study of students' academic engagement not only has an important impact on students' academic performance,but also has an impact on the long-term development of students.It is such an important influence that scholars have been concerned about the necessity of academic engagement,but the effectiveness of academic engagement can play its role.So we must pay attention to the individual differences of students and the.educational effectiveness of different types of academic engagement,so as to improve the students' academic engagement.Through the questionnaire survey on 280 students on 3 grades from a middle school in Shanghai about academic engagement,combine with classroom observation and interviews.The thesis reaches the following conclusion:1)the gender of students has no significant differences in the total amount of academic engagement,but it has a significant influence on the degree of dedicated.2)the more one attends activities,the greater he/she is willing to learn.3)the willingness of students to focus all of their attention on schoolwork doesn't increase with the increase of grade.4)the more one gets sense of achievement,the greater he/she is willing to learn.This thesis provides following suggestions to improve the academic engagement of students:1)to increase the students' sense of achievement in the learning process in order to improve students' willingness to learn.2)to increase students' participation in learning process and school life.3)to guide students to invest in different types of academic engagement,so as to make the learning process more effective.4)strengthen the cultivation of interest in learning to avoid the depressing of willingness to learn with the grades.
