In the high school English classroom,teacher language is one of the main sources of language input for the students,and teacher speech acts have influenced students' language acquisition ability directly by teachers' demonstration usage of English language.Teacher requests are typical teacher speech acts.The English teachers often make requests to interact with the students and hope to gain the students' compliance of respond to their requests.In this way,the students are motivated to participate actively in English learning.Polite and proper teacher requests can not only help the English teachers to complete their teaching tasks,but also stimulate and maintain the students' learning motivation to interact with their teachers.Multimodal teacher talk analysis studies have shown that besides verbal mode,nonverbal mode of teacher talk also plays a significant role in meaning-making.Gestures,facial expressions,eye contact and many other nonverbal modes work together to transmit the meaning of multimodal teacher requests so that the interaction between the teacher and the students can be smoothly carried on.The combination of different types and forms of multimodal teacher requests has significant influence on students' learning enthusiasm.Much more attention should be laid on the multimodal teacher requests in the high school English classroom,it is because of that multimodal teacher requests are so lively and easily to be understood that students' learning interests,motivation and enthusiasm can be stimulated in a more harmonious multimodal teacher request learning atmosphere.Multimodal English language teaching has drawn many linguistic scholars' attention both at home and broad,however,most of these researches focused more on the multimodal teacher talk rather than multimodal teacher requests.The positive effects of multimodal teacher requests on students' learning enthusiasm and English teaching haven't been researched extensively,and students' learning enthusiasm can't be ignored because it's one of the key factors that determine the learning results of the students and the efficiency of the English teaching.Therefore,the study on multimodal teacher requests has at least two benefits: on one hand,it's beneficial to motivate students' learning enthusiasm and improve their English learning;on the other hand,it helps to enrich the theoretical researches of teacher talk and raise teachers' awareness of pursuing professional self-development.The research on teacher request speech acts in high school English class is based on a typical case study,mainly adopts the literature research method,the observation method,the investigation method,the comparison method and the statistical method.This paper analyzes the relationship between the multimodal teacher request speech act and students' learning enthusiasm as well as effective modes of teacher requests in high school English class by using multimodal discourse analysis theory based on high-quality classroom teaching video,student questionnaire and teacher interview.The study also shows that the personality charm and teaching beliefs expressed by teacher request have great influence on the students 'learning motivation and learning interest,and put forward the viewpoint of improving the students' enthusiasm for learning through the coordination between different modes of teacher request.In addition,the combination of modal system and the cooperative relationship of teacher request are mainly divided into four aspects: complementarity,strengthening,illumination and interaction,and put forward three synergistic principles: the principle of validity,interactive principle and adaptive principle.The study sums up the high school students' favorite teacher request,multimodal teacher request type,and the effective multimodal request teaching strategy.And through the student questionnaire investigation and teacher interview,it confirmed the feasibility and effectiveness of multimodal teacher request.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions and strategies to improve the teaching efficiency by using multimodal teacher request.
