Education in our country aims to develop students' core literacy and help them become the qualified social successor in the future.It is a important way that to cultivate students core literacy by chemical education.Chemical science literacy macro micro is much related to the two representation mode of quad characterization,therefore starting from quad characterization study high school chemistry is helpful to cultivate the students' core literacy.Based on quad characterization,the author researches the application of quad characterization in electrochemistry teaching in middle school and tries to build up knowledge system of electrochemistry.Besides,the teaching strategy can be optimized by classroom observation,interview,literature review and data analysis.Combined with the specific teaching content,it helps students understand chemical knowledge to form macroscopic characterization from macroscopic structure.Transformation and coordination among quad characterization help students learn chemistry knowledge.The macroscopic characterization is represented from macroscopic phenomenon.Microscopic characterization is from microscopic structure.In addition,symbol representation is formed on the basis of macroscopic and microscopic characterization.The chemical reaction process is known through overall understanding of chemicals or chemical changes are formed.It is found that some students have cognitive problems in quad characterization,and some students are not familiar with the conversion of quad characterization.through investigation and analysis After the analysis of above problems,improved teaching strategies are put forward:(a)Organizing object teaching to increase students' experience of the macroscopic characterization;(b)Using micro AIDS to enhance the visualization of micro-structure;(c)Elaborating the connotation of chemical symbols to stress the transition of symbol characterization;(d)Combined with hand-held technology and using the curve characterization to help students understand the chemical reaction process;(e)Designing teaching cases to strengthen the consciousness and ability of conversion among quad characterization,and also putting forward some reflection for teachers and researchers.Teaching of electrochemistry plays an important role in developing students' logical deduction abilities,improving students' scientific literacy,cultivating the ability of scientific inquiry,applying theory to practice as well as the formation of systematic and structured knowledge.
