Statistical literacy on graphs is one of the essential qualities of every citizen in the era of big data.In order to know the current situation of high school students' statistical literacy on graphs,the researcher conducted a survey and investigate from the following two questions:(1)In the assessment framework of the statistical literacy on graphs made by the study,what is the current situation of high school students' statistical literacy on graphs? Specifically,(a)What is the general situation of high school students' statistical literacy on graphs?(b)What are the differences between boys and girls in high school students' statistical literacy on graphs?(2)What are the reasons that lead to the current situation of high school students' statistical literacy on graphs?The subjects of the study were 110 students in two regular classes from a senior high school in Hunan province.The study mainly focuses on two aspects: the cognitive literacy on statistical graphs and the emotional literacy on statistical graphs.The researcher used test,questionnaire,in-depth interviews and classroom teaching methods to collect data,and use Excel and SPSS to analyze the data,and then present the results through the chart and text.The results of the test showed that:(1)In the cognitive literacy of statistical graphs: Students' reading literacy and making literacy on statistical graphs are good,the interpretation literacy on statistical graphs is not bad,the evaluation literacy and application literacy on statistical graphs are poor.(2)The differences between boys and girls in the cognitive literacy aspects on statistics graphs:Statistically speaking,boys and girls have significant differences in the application literacy of statistical graphs,but there is no significant difference between the boys and girls in the other aspects of the cognitive literacy on statistical graphs.(3)There is a positive correlation between cognitive literacy on statistical graphs and mathematics grades.The results of the questionnaire survey showed that:(1)In the aspect of the emotional literacy on statistical graphs:The emotion that students feel statistical graphs useful is very strong,the tendency of the interest on statistical graphsis general,and the consciousness of using on statistical graphs is not strong.(2)The differences between boys and girls in the emotional literacy aspects on statistics graphs:Statistically speaking,boys and girls have significant differences in the consciousness of the use of Statistics graphs,but there is no significant difference between the boys and girls in the other aspects of the emotional literacy on statistical graphs.(3)There is a positive correlation between cognitive literacy and emotional literacy on statistical graphs.The reasons for leading to the current situation on high school students' statistical literacy on graphs are:(1)The degree of mastering the statistical graphs' knowledge: A few of students have problems about concepts,most of the students are good at reading and making statistical graphs.(2)The psychological aspects of students: The overall of the students have high interest in the statistical graphs,a small number of students in the calculation of the degree of care is poor,a small number of students' faith to learn the statistical graphs well is not very strong.(3)Gender differences: Boys are more interested in statistics graphs,girls are more sensitive to language.(4)Teachers' teaching and educational environment:The teaching on application of statistics graphs to life is less.
