As we all know,vocabulary is the base of language learning.According to the requirements of vocabulary made by Shanghai Standard of English Courses in Middle and Primary School,students who graduate from junior high school should reach Level 3,which means 1800-2100 words should be mastered before graduating from middle school.Therefore,vocabulary teaching plays an important role in English language teaching.However,one of the most challenging problems is the ineffectiveness.When teaching vocabulary,teachers may use traditional teaching method,which is very dull and boring.As a result,students might lose motivation and interest in learning vocabulary and even get lower scores.Some of them may conflict with English learning,which leads to the bad result.Therefore,improving the efficiency of vocabulary teaching becomes a hot issue in English education.With the development of science and technology,corpus is applied to English teaching because of authentic language and having plenty of information.Therefore,this research will learn how to apply corpus resources to English vocabulary teaching in junior high schools.Based on the problem above,the hypothesis is made that compared with traditional teaching method,after being taught by Data Driven Learning(DDL)vocabulary teaching method based on corpus resources,students can get significant improvement in vocabulary learning.During the process,questionnaire,interview and experimental method are mainly used in the research.With the help of the questionnaire and interview method,the facts are found that teachers and students have a positive attitude towards the new method.They are fond of using it when teaching and learning vocabulary.According to the experimental method,two classes are chosen as experimental class and controlled class.Students in controlled class are taught in traditional way and the ones in experimental class are taught in DDL way.After the analysis between the scores of pre-test and post test which analyzed by SPSS 20.0,results can be found that after being taught by DDL vocabulary teaching based on corpus resources,students' scores can be significantly improved.As a result,the research shows that after being taught by DDL vocabulary teaching method based on corpus resources,students can get significant improvement in vocabulary learning.But the popularization of this new method needs the support from educational departments and further study of teachers.
