According to family system theory,the defects of the children with intellectual disabilities will affect their family life,and then affecting the family quality of life,and the family life condition and rehabilitation will effect on the growth of the children of intellectual disabilities,so there comes a mainstream trends that we should pay attention to the family quality of life with the children with intellectual disabilities.On the basis of other researches,according to the general procedures of the questionnaire,785 parents of children with intellectual disabilities sampled as the research object,our study established the “The Family Quality of Life questionnaire for the children with intellectual disabilities”.Using the questionnaire investigated 353 parents of children with intellectual disabilities and interviewed 15 parents of children with intellectual disabilities,according the interview outline in Chongqing area.The status of family quality of life of children with intellectual disabilities in Chongqing area was carried out.The study found that there are certain characteristics in the various aspects of family quality of life,and also there are some significant differences in related demographic background variables on the family quality of life.The findings provided the certain basis for ascension the family quality of life of children with intellectual disabilities in Chongqing.This study reached the following conclusions:The self-made questionnaire include 8 dimensions: physical and psychological heal th,leisure time,financial well-being,family communication,disability supports,support from others,the career development and parenting.The Cronbach coefficients were 0.93 for the whole questionnaire and were 0.80-0.91 for the 8 dimensions.The test-retest coefficients were 0.92 for the whole questionnaire and were 0.76-0.90 for the 8 dimen sions.This indicated that the questionnaire has a good reliability.Furthermore,the result of CFA(?2/df=2.08,RMSEA=0.06,GFI=0.85,CFI=0.92,TLI=0.91,IFI=0.92)indicated tha t the model fitted the data well.The status of family quality of life of children with intellectual disabilities in Chongqing area.i)Generally,among the dimensions of the family quality of life of children withintellectual disabilities,the "family communication" is best,"the career development and financial well-being" were relatively low,"disability supports" ? "support from others" and "leisure time" get the lowest scores among each dimension.ii)The family quality of life and its dimensions had significant differences in home address,children disorder degrees,schools,family structures,children's and parents' gender,children's and parents' ages,parents identities.iii)The family quality of life and its dimensions had no significant differences in the amounts of the children.iiii)In terms of family economic conditions,the majority family of children with intellectual disabilities do not have too many needs,as long as the basic family expenses can be maintained.iiiii)In the time and energy balance,the majority family of children with intellectual disabilities can complete family chores,and maintain a good relationship between husbands and wives,but it is not enough to meet the needs of the family member self,and also the parents can be selective to the balance of other children's education.iiiiii)In the available resources,the majority family of children with intellectual disabilities were not satisfied with the government financial supports,hoping the professional rehabilitation support can be more professional,hoping their children and families can be more acceptable by others.According to the research results,researchers carried out the suggestions to the foll owing : the family of children with intellectual disabilities,the special education prof essionals and related education departments,disabled community policy settings and im plementation departments...
