Based on the survey data from the China Education Panel Survey(2013-2014 study year),by using the OLS regression equation model,this paper proves the social class theory impacts on Chinese parental involvement in junior high education.According to the research,as similar as western countries,the middle-class parents of China are taking more actively in students' study,including ‘home-based' parental involvement and ‘school-based' parental involvement,and having higher education expectation on their children;while the working-class parents are less active.More specifically,this class difference is greatly and mainly between new middle-class and working-class parents,while there are just ‘school-based parental involvement' and education expectation differences between the old middle-class and the working-class.In order to detect other explanatory factors in parental involvement in social class,this study has selected four related variables.This paper studied four explanation variables: education value,cultural capital,family economic conditions,household of urban and rural areas.The first three variables are similar with the previous and existing western studies,but also sets the Chinese special household as a variable.This paper proves these four variables can explain the effect of occupational class on most parental involvement in junior high education in China.And additionally,the strongest and the most critical variable is the culture capital between the new middle-class parents and the working-class parents.Furthermore,that is to say that this paper finds the cultural capital variable can most strongly explain the effect that social class on the new middle-class parental involvement,this can illustrate that the cultural capital of parents plays a vital role in Chinese parental involvement in junior high education.However,the situation between the old middle-class and the working-class do not be the same as the foregoing.Lastly,this paper has discussed these findings,and regards it positive on parental involvement though social class difference.Some means can be implemented and are suggested like improving parents' subjective initiative,related education policies and etc.
