With the rapid development of domestic economy, the social differentiation has become increasingly serious.Education is recognized as a critical way to break through the class barriers and realize the society mobility. While school education is important, the Coleman report confirms that family background plays an even more significant role in children’s education. This study focuses the research questions on the family background and the education of students.taking parental involvement in education as the main variable, the research explores the influence of family socioeconomic status on the rural students expectation of education,as well as whether and how parental education involvement plays an intermediary role in family socioeconomic status and the rural students expectation of education. The research mainly adopted the questionnaire survey method, selected three rural schools with great differences in economic development level and took 473 rural primary and middle school students as the survey objects.Firstly, the family socioeconomic status, parental involvement in education and rural students expectation of education was described in this study.Secondly, according to Different Tests, this paper reveals whether there were significant differences in students expectation of education in terms of gender, education stage, family socioeconomic status and parental involvement in education.Thirdly, this paper explored the correlativity and found the interaction mechanisms between family socioeconomic status, parental involvement in education and rural students expectation of education through correlation analysis and regression analysis. Finally,A structural equation model was established to explore the mediating effect of parental involvement between family socioeconomic status and students expectation of education. The research findings are as follow:(1)The involvement in education of most rural parents is at the intermediate standard, and primarily based on behavioral management involvement and emotional involvement, while intellectual involvement is relatively deficient.(2)There are significant differences in parental involvement in education and students expectation of education under different family socioeconomic status. With the improvement of family socioeconomic status, the parental involvement in education and students expectation of education also increase.(3)Every each other of family socioeconomic status, parental involvement in education and rural students expectation of education has a significant correlation. There are a significant positive correlation between family socioeconomic status and parental involvement in education, meanwhile, both family socioeconomic status and parental involvement in education have a significant positive correlation with students expectation of education.(4)Parental involvement in education plays a partial mediating role in the effect of family socioeconomic status on students expectation of education, and mediating effect accounted for 39.76% of the total effect. It indicates that family socioeconomic status could indirectly affect students expectation of education through parental education involvement.Based on the above research conclusions, several suggestions are proposed in the study:(1)Parents should strengthen the communication with their children, create a favorable family atmosphere, and keep learning to improve the confidence and standard of education involvement.(2)The educational resources of government should be appropriately titled to rural areas.Meanwhile, the government should increase the investment in parental education, improve relevant laws and regulations, and ensure the progress of family education.(3)The society should strengthen the publicity,in order to provide effective guidance for raising the standard of parental involvement in education.(4)Schools should be skilled at stimulating students motivation and be a guide to improve students education expectation and establish a platform for parents and teachers to exchange educational experience.
