A Study On The Silence Of Rural People In Their Daily

In recent years,the rural elderly are generally in silence,several ineloquent elderly staged the tragedy of suicide.The silence is an objective social phenomenon,depth analysis of the elderly's silence plays an important role in understanding the elderly's living conditions and the contemporary social changes.On the basis of reviewing the study of silence at home and abroad,this paper takes the theory of social exchange as the theoretical support and clarifies the research direction and ideas.And it chooses the village of Yantang where silence is universal in-depth investigation,by virtue of documentary,observation and interview,this article firstly gives a comprehensive presentation of the silence of the elderly in Yantang village,then treates the Yantang village as a typical case,and analyze the reasons for the silence of the rural elderly,finally,this article interpretates the relationship between the silence of the elderly and the rural modernization.The study finds that rural elderly people fall into silence not only in the family affairs,but also in their own related matters.When the elderly realize that they are unable to take a stand or express their feelings on all kinds of matters,they will give up their positions gradually,reduce communication with family members,and keep silent all day.On the surface,this paper argues that,losing the right of family management and the right to speak,and lacking social assistance are the reasons for the elderly's silence.However,from the deep analysis,the silence essentially reflectes the reality of their weak competition in family power rivalry,meanwhile,capital shortage is the cause of forfeiting power and falling into silence.This article also pointes out that the changes of the elderly'capital are inextricably linked with the modernization,the silence of the elderly is an inevitable sequelae in the process of modernization,and it is also a problem that must be faced and solved by modern society.
