The Research On The Current Situation And Countermeasures Of The Practice Of Democracy And Autonomy For College Students In China

Student Autonomy,which is no longer a new conception,for its 100-year long history of rise and development all over the world.In medieval Europe,this thought was originated in University of Bologna in Italy.After that,Mr.Humboldt,the founder of Berlin University made an effort developing it as a theory.At the beginning of 20 th century,the ideological trend of student autonomy become popular and mature with the help of a few infusive educators,such as Dewey from America as well as Ashby from University of Cambridge.On the contrary,because of some historical and political factors,the thought of student autonomy was not so influential in China before the May 4th Movement.Although Chinese college students took a contact with that theory as a enlightenment of democracy.the positive trend was not able to keep persistent.However,as time goes by,things do changed a lot.During the recent decade,the construction of political democracy started a revolution in education,economy and some other areas in China,so that many sensitive topics came back to the stage.Men and women began to pay attention to autonomy of college-running,student autonomy,multi-dimensional governance pattern and so on.Generally speaking,there came a conclusion that the practice and theory construction of students' democracy and autonomy will keep a positive tendency in the coming years,but the problems will still confuse all of us for a long time.In this research,the author tries to build a system of the autonomy theory for college student at first,including the definition,the content and the inherent law.Then,by introducing several relative theories from the perspective of political science,management science and philosophy,the research gave some reasons to support the key argument.As thus,students got courage to move on practice anyway.In the next part,based on the questionnaire and regulations about student,the author did an analysis on the current situation of democracy and autonomy for Chinese college students.Finally,in order to solve those current problems,some constructive suggestions came out.
