At present,there is an increasing trend on the efficiency of questioning in foreign language learning with the educational reform,and how to design questions is the key factor in the English reading teaching.According to some articles in the field of this education,the author has found there are still a lot of questions which should be researched.So the author will make up her mind to do researches on question-based students' reading class to arise students' motivation and improve learning efficiency.Before the experiment,the author assumes 3 questions: 1)Is question-based instruction(QBI for short)effective in raising students' reading achievement? 2)Are there any differences between the QBI and the traditional instruction(TI for short)in students' achievement raising? 3)Is the QBI more effective than TI in raising students' motivation? To prove the experiment is effective,the author will carry the experiment through questionnaires and teaching intervention.The subjects of the experiment will be 80 students from natural classes in Grade1 of No.1 High School of Luanping in Chengde city.Before experiment,there will be a pre-test and a questionnaire for the two classes.Pre-test's scores will be used to check if the English levels of the two classes will be similar to each other and the aim of the pre-questionnaire is to know the subjects' awareness of learning motivation,learning strategies and application before using QBI.One class will be treated to be the experimental class randomly where QBI will be used,the other will be treated to be the control class,where traditional teaching methods will be used.After four months of experiment,a test and a questionnaire will be given to the two classes.The test scores will be collected and compared with pre-test scores to find answers to the questions put forward before the experiment.Combing the results from the system of SPSS 1.0,the author will draw the conclusion.First,in raising students' reading achievements.QBI is effective.Second,in raising students' achievements there are some differences between the QBI and TI.Third,in stimulating students' motivation,the QBI is more effective than TI.Present review shows that the result of the research is very important in raising English reading achievement,which will fill the gap of traditional English reading teaching,and help students increase their learning invitation,improving the achievements finally.Of course,there are also some limitations.First,the number of the students is small.Second,the time of the experiment is not long.Third,the result of the experiment needs to be proved furthermore.Fourth,the design of the teaching needs to be improved.So there is a need to do some further work to better it.
