The vocabulary teaching is the key point and also is the biggest challenge faced by the teachers in primary school English teaching.The research subject of this paper is the primary school students and the vocabulary teaching in primary school.Because of the specific features of the primary school students,their concentration ability is weak and their learning pattern is generally visual and intuitive.However,the traditional teaching method focuses more on the teachers' infusion of the knowledge based on textbooks,which causes the dissatisfying teaching results and makes students feel passive to accept the knowledge.Students' activeness and initiative are not well stimulated.Therefore,this paper attempts to improve the English vocabulary teaching results by applying TPR to the English vocabulary teaching in primary school.TPR refers to the total physical response which tries to carry out the language teaching by stimulating and involving the students' physical response.It is a kind of fast teaching method that is established on the harmonious balance between actions and language.Through this teaching method,the students are truly converted into the main learning body and let the students to learn in practice and make them feel the pleasure and enjoyment of studying.Therefore,this paper holds that the TPR can help to improve the English teaching results and satisfy the demands of the primary school students both physically and psychologically.This research has done an empirical experiment in a primary school,the research questions are as following:1.Can TPR teaching method help to improve students' English vocabulary learning interests?2.Whether TPR teaching method is more advantageous than the traditional teaching method in improving students' vocabulary learning efficiency?In this research,two classes in the primary school will be involved,one is the experimental class(EC)and the other is the control class(CC).Each class has 40 students.The whole experiment has been carried out from September to December in 2015,namely a term.Of the two classes,the EC is taught by the TPR while the CC is taught by the traditional teaching method.The students in the two classes are taught by the same teacher and the same teaching materials so as to avoid other influential factors.Before and after the experiment,pre-test and pre-questionnaire and post-test and post-questionnaires are respectively handed out to each student in the two classes.The author has collected the results of the tests and the questionnaires.After analyzing the data collected by using the SPSS,the author finds that: 1.TPR is helpful to stimulate students' vocabulary learning interest;2.TPR can enhance the vocabulary teaching results.As a result,compared with the traditional teaching method,the TPR is more helpful to improve students' English vocabulary level.There are five chapters in this paper.The first chapter is the introduction.The second chapter is the literature review.The third chapter is the research design which mainly introduces the hypothesis,research subjects,and research methods.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the relative data.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.
