The time in primary school is the initial stage of the students' English learning.It proves in practice that the students' English ability gained in primary school plays an important role in the process of their future English learning and character development.According to Chinese regulation,English courses are offered from Grade Three in primary school in most cities.But in the course of teaching,teachers found that there had been quite a few students with learning difficulties in English when they were in Grade Four.Take the researcher's school as an example,students with learning difficulties in English in Grade Four accounts for about twenty percent which shows less optimistic.In this study,40 students in Grade Four were selected as subjects.Through the research of the causes of the students with learning difficulties in English,the stratified experimental teaching,and the changing in learning of the students with learning difficulties in English,the effectiveness of the conversion strategy has been proved.It improves students' academic performance and their interest in English learning,and it is of great significance to improve the teaching effect.The instruments used in this research are questionnaire and interview,which aims at analyzing the causes of the students with learning difficulties in English in Grade Four.And then,by using experimental teaching of stratified teaching mode,the researcher suggested countermeasures.The aim of this study is to answer two research questions:(1)What are the causes of students with learning difficulties in English in Grade Four?(2)Whether the stratified teaching can convert the students with learning difficulties in English in Grade Four?In this research,the English exam of Grade Four in the first term is as the pre-test,which is a unitary organization exam by Educational Bureau of Chengde County.In No.2 Primary School of Chengde County,there are 512 students in Grade Four and 5 students of them are selected as the questionnaire and interview subjects randomly and respectively,which analyzes the causes of students with learning difficulties in English.Through a semester of stratified teaching experiment,the English exam of Grade Four in the second term is as the post-test,which is also a unitary organization exam by Educational Bureau of Chengde County.Through the results' comparison of 40 students with learning difficulties in English and their improvement English learning interest,the effectiveness of translation strategies isproved.The data collected is analyzed by SPSS V19.0,which includes reliability,descriptive statistics and Independent-sample T-test analysis.This research is made up of five chapters.Chapter one is the introduction,which explains the background,significance and framework of this research.In chapter two,the researcher introduces the definitions of the students with learning difficulties in English,the studies of students with learning difficulties in English abroad and at home,the characteristics of students with learning difficulties in English,and the conceptions of stratified teaching model theory.Chapter three is the methodology,which includes research questions,subjects,instruments,methods,procedures.In Chapter four,through the statistics of the questionnaires of the students with learning difficulties in English and their parents,and the teachers' interviews,the researcher analyzes that there are mainly causes of students with learning difficulties in English in Grade Four.According to the causes,the researcher conducted a semester of stratified teaching experiment.Chapter five is the conclusion,limitations and some suggestions,which is proved that the stratified teaching can effectively improve the English learning situation of the students with learning difficulties in English,and raise the test scores a lot.At the same time,it is suggested that teachers should pay attention to the students with learning difficulties in English in primary school,analyze the different reasons for the formation of students with learning difficulties in English,and formulate scientific teaching reform methods and strategies to meet their special needs in English learning and improve their learning achievement.
