A Study On Content Validity Of Reading Comprehension Section In College Entrance Examination(CEE)

This article mainly combines Bachman and Palmer's characteristic framework of language using task and the English Curriculum Standard and the outline of National Matriculation English Test to study and analyze the Content Validity of Reading Comprehension Section in 2011 ~ 2016 College Entrance Examination from the input of the text(the length of the reading material,the difficulty,the topic,the genre)and the expected answer(to test of the reading skills of the reading materials)these two aspects.I hope to improve the effectiveness of reading tests and try to give some suggestions for the future giving tests and teaching tasks,through analyzing the present situation of those things above.I used the Microsoft Office Word 2007 to collect the length of the article,and made the appropriate comparison according to the requirements of Curriculum Standard.And for the difficult part of the reading text,I calculated data by the Flesh reading case.About the topic of the article,I marked the topic involved in six years' reading comprehension,according to the classification of the subject in the Curriculum Standard.Then I classified these reading comprehensions into the corresponding categories.About the genre of these reading materials,I respectively marked it.On the “expected answer” part,taking " Curriculum Standard " as the standard,I discussed some specific skills involved in these questions in the reading materials and got the final answer.Through the analysis I found that result.From the “input” part of the reading materials(length?difficulty? topic? genre),the length of the six years' reading comprehension are about 1300 words.It reached the requirements about the words in Curriculum Standard and kept in a stable state.Though the observation and analysis on the Flesh reading case of the reading materials,I found that the average standard of it is relatively stable,almost floating around 70.This result is precisely among the standard,a little bit difficult and a little bit easy.About the topic and the genre of reading materials,they also reached the requirements in "curriculum standard".But I also found some questions.From the “expected answer” part of the reading materials,I found all test questions do not include the test skill of "understanding of cultural information ".The proportion of the "find specific information" and "understand the details" part are too large.So the test questions are relatively simple.The data of each reading materials I received through the Flesh reading case is also different.Topics involved in the reading materials are also in a narrow range and so on.At the end of this paper,I made a description of the problems found in the study,and put forward some opinions for reference and some requirements on the teaching and test proposition of senior high school English.Finally,the shortcomings and future research directions are explained.
