Solid geometry is compulsory for high school mathematics curriculum.Learning solid geometry can help students better understand the world,develop geometrical thinking and thus cultivate space imagination ability and logical reasoning.The main content of solid geometry for students of liberal arts is to learn space geometry and the location of the relationship between dot,line and plane.One of the focuses in the college entrance examination is on straight lines in space,the position relationship between planes,especially the judgment and proof of their parallel and vertical relationship.Since most of the students of liberal arts are weak in mathematics,lack of space imagination,not confident when facing solid geometry and their memory-oriented learning characteristic,they are at a loss,not doing well in solid geometry.So in this article I will do some further research on the reasoning proof in solid geometry to improve the students' logical thinking and their problem solving abilities and learning efficiency.This article surveyed 106 students of liberal arts of Senior High School in Yong'an,Fujian Province.According to Biggs(1982)SOLO classification and evaluation of proposed structure of selected test questions to develop classification and evaluation level corresponding to the SOLO standard,on the student's reasoning proof SOLO level hierarchy,the analysis results shows that for the simple reasoning proof problems,nearly 70% of the students' SOLO level is on the multivariate structure or relational structure level;and as for the slightly complicated comprehensive point of reasoning proof problems,about 40% of the students are on a relational structure and former structure level.The polarization is very obvious.After analyzing,I have drawn a conclusion that the main factors that influence students' reasoning level of SOLO are as follows:(1)non intellectual factors(fear,lack of hard work and so on);(2)not familiar with basic knowledge(definition,theorem and properties)(3)lack of knowledge map,spatial imagination,difficulty in chart drawing;(4)weak in logical reasoning ability;lack of systematic proving methods(5)language incompetence,including transformation among the three languages.According to the above survey SOLO level and related factors,suggestions are given tothe teaching of solid geometry:(1)to build up the students' confidence in learning reasoning;(2)to strengthen the understanding and memory of the concept;(3)strengthen the visual perception,multi drawing,improve the ability of space imagination;(4)to strengthen the reasoning method of inductive proof.
