The Outline of China's Educational Reform and Development points out that in the implementation of quality education,which is characterized by the cultivation of students' creativity and practical ability,the first principle lies in the respect for students' individuality and the development of their personality.Thus,the essential characteristic of quality education is to cultivate and develop students' creativity and autonomous learning ability through the cultivation and development of personality.And individualized teaching is regarded as the inevitable choice for quality education,which stresses the respect for students' individual differences,pays attention to the development of students' personality as well as the cultivation of creative talents.However,although the majority of junior middle school English teachers can accept the concept of individualized teaching,in the current junior middle school English teaching there is still few implementation of personalized teaching.Therefore,how to practice quality education in junior school English teaching,to respect students' individual differences and promote the development of students' personality,individualized teaching is the needs of social development today,and at the same time,it is the problem that requires urgent research and exploration.The present study attempts to explore junior high school individualized English teaching from the post-method perspective,aiming to research how to carry out individualized English teaching in junior high schools with the theoretic guidance of the theory.Different from any other traditional teaching method and approach,post-method is a new critical thinking for language teaching,which is beyond any ONE specific teaching method but a concept or an idea for foreign language teaching.Post-method is beyond the level of a specific teaching approach,and there is no fixed teaching method,no fixed steps and procedures.It tries to get rid of the bondage and limitations of any single specific method of foreign language teaching.The educational philosophy of post-method contains three parameters: specificity,practicality and possibility.It advocates that the basic principles for foreign language teaching include: learner autonomy,teacher autonomy and teacher empowerment.Based on the post-method theory,by the application of literature review,questionnaires,interviews,class observation,lesson design and experiment as the research methods,this study carries out the present research.80 students from two classes are chosen for the subjects of thestudy,who are second-year students in a junior middle school of Jinan.The research has lasted for one school term,from September to December of 2016.The research intends to mainly address the following three questions: 1)What is the present situation of individualized English teaching in junior high schools? 2)How to practice the individualized English teaching of junior high schools under the guidance of the ‘post-method' theory? 3)Whether individualized English Teaching in junior high schools is effective for improving students' interest in English learning and whether it can promote students' individualized development?This study is based on the concept of individualized education and ‘post-method' theory.Firstly,the study applies interviews,questionnaire survey,class observation to analyze and summarize the present situation of individualized English teaching in junior high schools.Through investigation and observation,it is found out that,in junior high schools,the current English teaching attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' language ability,the professional quality of teachers also have a satisfactory presentation.However,the present situation of junior high school individualized English teaching is still not optimistic,and the lack of personalized teaching activity and individualized lesson design is still obvious.Secondly,with the guidance of the "post method" theory,this study explores how to practice individualized English teaching in junior high schools.Through the design and practice of individualized English teaching,this study holds that teachers should practice individualized English teaching from four aspects.That is,1)individualized teaching process,2)individualized teaching task,3)individualized teaching evaluation,and 4)individualized homework.Finally,through the observation and analysis on the effect of individualized English teaching in junior high school,as well as the analysis and discussion of the feedback from the students,the present research believes that the individualized English teaching can enhance the students' interest in learning English.Besides,it can promote the development of students' personality.It is sincerely hoped that this study will be of enlightening significance to junior high school English teachers so as to contribute to the improvement of English teaching in junior high schools.
