Study On High School Geography Teaching Through Natural Experience

New course concept advocates that students be treated as the central role,their experience the best way,and their overall development the ultimate goal.Guided by the new course concept,it is expected that geography class in high school changes the original teacher-dominated and classroom-confined teaching model,and strives to improve the new teaching model of students-centered,multiple sites and multiple situations.This could be the breakthrough in teaching through natural experience,in which we not only respect the student-centered concept,but also move the teaching site from classroom to outside,enriching students' learning experience.Though teaching through natural experience has been improved gradually,it is still in the initial stage in real teaching activities,and is only confined to the teaching in primary and middle school.There are few cases to show that it has been used in geography teaching in high school,therefore there would be no complete theories or practices to refer to.The author would study the method of teaching through natural experience in this essay,and probe its application in geography teaching in high school from the perspective of theory and practice.This essay adopts the method of literature search,education survey,and statistic analysis to do the questionnaire survey among the teachers and students in Affiliated Middle School of Henan University and Yong cheng High School.The author draws the conclusion as follows after the analysis of the questionnaires:First of all,application of teaching through natural experience in geography teaching is not that optimistic,as currently geography classes are still confined in the classroom with teacher's explanation as the main method.The geography teachers are using old method in class and they lack systematic understanding of teaching through natural experience,and naturally fail to develop new courses with the resources at hand.Hence,in practice,teachers show incompetence in designing,regulating,organizing and reflecting the activity,thus their competence and quality should be improved.Secondly,traditional teaching method is harmful to students' development.After the survey on students in Affiliate Middle School of He nan University and Yong cheng High School,it is discovered that they are not keen on geography learning.Many students choose to learn it just because of the requests from teachers,parents and school,thus theyare not active in class,and lack the ability to practice or to generalize or apply the knowledge they learn.Learned about the teaching through natural experience method,most students tend to accept this method and show their interest in acting some roles in this.Then after the study of cases using this method to teach,the author found that this method can make student focus,arouse their learning interest,develop their potentials in practice,and help them to form positive feeling,attitude and value.Moreover,the teaching through natural experience method treats the students as the center of the class,in which students are learning in groups.This would develop their independence and cooperation spirit.Lastly,despite the fact that teaching through natural experience is still in its initial stage in China and would encounter problems in terms of budget,faculty,class length,students' ability,teaching content,and policy,it is still believable that it would gain the emphasis it deserves in geography teaching in high school with the development of course reform which requires new teaching models,deepened and more specific reform in geography course,and enriched application of the theories and practices of teaching through natural experience.The novelty of this essay lies in its combination of traditional teaching method and teaching through natural experience method to create a diversified teaching method for the benefits of geography teaching in high school,which on the one hand,enriches the application of teaching through natural experience method,while on the other hand,diversifies the teaching methods in geography teaching in high school.Through the questionnaires among teachers and students in high school;analysis of the current situation in geography teaching,application of teaching through natural experience method and teachers' and students' attitude towards it,the author designed a case that is suitable for geography teaching in high school,offering a reference to teachers who would like to conduct teaching through natural experience in the future.
