The rise of the online learning platform represented by MOOC has led to the upsurge of online learning. Compared with the traditional teaching in the past, learners are more likely to learn the way of learning anytime, anywhere, which means that the online learning platform brings together a large amount of data information, including information of learners, teaching resources and learning behavior data that learners in the learning process.These data contain a lot of valuable information, and from these data to explore the valuable information cannot be separated from human analysis and experience. How to improve people’s ability to understand data quickly, or how to convert data into a form that is easier to understand, is the key issue in discovering and exploiting data values that need to be addressed. In view of the difficulties existing in the online learning platform, this paper analyzes the data in the online learning platform with the data visualization technology.Firstly, this paper introduces the research background and significance of the visualization of online learning platform, the status quo of data visualization at home and abroad, and the status of visualization in domestic education field, and expounds the basic process, technical classification and mainstream tool of data visualization. Based on the theory and technology of data visualization, this paper takes the HstarC developed by the Central China Normal University as an example to analyze the educational data, including the analysis of users, the analysis of data modules and types, and the analysis of data visualization layout based on the data type and visualization technology classification, and selects the appropriate layout method for the education data in different types.Secondly, according to the online learning platform data visualization analysis,complete the design and implementation of data visualization system. First, the overall architecture,visualization module and database of the system are designed according to the basic process of data visualization and the analysis of the data module in the online learning platform. Then, based on the visual demand analysis, layout analysis and design,selects the appropriate visualization tools and focuses on the visualization part of system implementation, including the visual interactive implementation and the implementation of visual layout.Finally, from the perspective of three user roles of educational managers, teachers and students, analysis the effect of data visualization system of online learning platform, and confirms visualization results of system in assisting education administrators to manage decision, helping teachers to optimize teaching and promoting students’ self-evaluation and other aspects of providing provide a good presentation,to meet the needs of different user roles.To sum up, the data visualization technology applied to the online learning platform,you can show different types of educational data clearly and intuitively, and solve the problem caused by the complex and large data effectively.
