This phase at the beginning of 21st century is characterized by a firm and urgent call from the government for quality-oriented education.The new National English Curriculum was issued by Ministry of Education in 2001 where affect objectives have been considered as one of the five objectives in English teaching.The purpose of affect objectives in English teaching is to attract students'interest in English learning,stimulate learners' motivation towards learning,build up students' confidence and enhance learners'international perspective.It is recognized that English teaching is the process of language teaching as well as the process of affect teaching.As for English teaching,it includes listening teaching,vocabulary teaching,writing teaching as well as reading teaching.Reading,as one of four English learning skills,is a unique human psychological activity,which is not only the understanding of words but also the extension of the implicit meaning of text.However,the current English reading teaching can not integrate with affect objectives,but put much emphasis on grammar,vocabulary and reading skills,which needs to be changed.Since affect objectives play a crucial part in English teaching and reading is an indispensable component in English learning,the author employed the affect filter Approach and taxonomy of educational objectives theory to find out the current situation of implementation of affect objectives in junior middle school reading teaching and explore the strategies for strengthening the effect of affect objectives in reading teaching.In order to accomplish the research,the questionnaires were distributed to 15 English teachers in one key secondary school and 3 teachers were interviewed to get more deep information.At the same time,the author followed and observed 3 teachers' reading class to find out these strategies that aimed at achieving affect objectives as well as problems arising while teaching.The study intends to work out the three research question:1.what is the teachers' perception and understanding of implementing affect objectives in English reading teaching?2.what kinds of strategies are used to enhance the implementation of affect objectives in English reading teaching?3.what are problems of the implementation of affect objectives in English reading teaching?The results of the research indicated that 15 English teachers have a basic understanding of affect objectives.But in fact teachers don't focus much on affect objectives in real classroom and just implement them occasionally in reading teaching.And 86.67%of English teachers attached much importance on linguistic objectives and language skills objectives.However,students' ambiguous perception of affect objectives and low recognition of function of affect objectives are dominant factors in blocking the implementation of affect objectives.In addition,teachers' professional competence like the text-comprehension ability also prevents the process of affect objectives in reading teaching.In the matter of the solutions to these problems,some constructive suggestions were put forward with.It is urgent for teachers to help understand the significance of affect objectives.Teachers' text-comprehension ability and students' perception of the necessity of affect objectives both need to be promoted and boosted.Meanwhile,the teaching content strategies are commonly used to match students' need to arouse students' interest and motivation in reading teaching.Teachers apply the strategies for the teaching organization to make the reading class active and interesting,including the flexible grouping strategy,the role transformation strategy and the controlling body language strategy.Last but not the least;the teaching environment also can't be ignored in reading teaching.Teachers usually create a positive atmosphere,incorporate competition and cooperation strategy and accumulate benign relationship between students and teachers.All in all,the research has offered strong support for deepening curriculum reform,provided more specific implementation strategies in reading teaching,and promoted students' psychological development of junior middle school students and students'all-round development.
