Autonomous reading refers to a way of reading,in which learners can manage their reading behaviors.According to their own situations,learners can make reading plans,choose reading strategies,monitor the reading processes and evaluate their reading effects to improve their reading abilities.This research collects data through the literature method,questionnaire method and interview method,and makes scientific data processing.This paper analyzes the current situations and problems of the junior middle school students in autonomous reading.It also searches for causes that lead to the present situations of junior middle school students' English autonomous reading,and gives some educational suggestions.This paper discusses overall performances of autonomous reading attitudes,autonomous reading interests,autonomous reading environments,autonomous reading strategies.It summarizes the current situations of junior middle school students in autonomous reading.Most of the junior middle school students can't understand the meaning of autonomous reading.They are lack of autonomous reading initiative.Meanwhile,they are poor in reading enthusiasm.They are also short of mastering and using reading strategies to promote high quality of autonomous reading,which makes most of junior high school students' autonomous reading ability low.Based on the current situations of junior middle school students English autonomous reading analysis,the author summarizes three factors that lead to the present situations of junior middle school students English autonomous reading:students factors mainly include low self-efficacies,low autonomous reading interests,low autonomous reading abilities;Teacher factors mainly include the lack of advanced teaching concepts,the lack of the guidance to junior high school students' autonomous reading methods,the lack of cultivation of junior middle school students' autonomous reading habits and the lack of cultivation of junior middle school students autonomous reading interests;School factors mainly include failure to create harmonious teaching atmosphere to establish equal relationship between teachers and students,failure to create favorable autonomous reading situations and space,failure to carry out a variety of autonomous reading activities,and failure to focus on cultivating junior middle school students' autonomous reading abilities.Finally,the author gives some related guidance advice.As for students,they should get into the habits of autonomous reading,enhance initiative of autonomous reading,pay attention to the accumulation of English vocabulary and make a good use of network resources to explore the new reading patterns.As for teachers,they need to arouse the reading interests of the students,to make students be willing to read,to make the students grasp the reading methods,to carry out various reading activities to help students read as well as to help the students read more of selected reading materials.The schools should play a role in leading teachers to reasonable role positioning.Although there are many deficiencies in this research,the writer also gives her own suggestions for subsequent studies.
