As a main channel to improve students' comprehensive language application ability,reading becomes an essential factor for learners to learn English.Therefore,to strengthen reading teaching and improve the students' reading ability is a vital task as well as a central part of English teaching in senior high schools.The English Curricular Standards emphasizes that senior high school students' reading must comply with Level-8 standard.However,inflexible design of instructional activities and simple ways of presentations result in the inadequate learner's initiative and great efforts but poor effects in reading teaching.By questionnaire and experiment,the author has carried on an empirical research.This research,with the application of the experiencing teaching,proposes a hypothesis that the experiencing teaching can improve the effectiveness of the senior high school English reading teaching in Grade One and verifies it with a comparative experiment.The subjects of the research are students from two classes of Grade One,Loudi No.3 Senior Middle School,Class 292 as the experimental class and Class 293 as the controlled class.The author makes a reading teaching experiment in Class 292 for a semester to verify the effectiveness of experiencing teaching.And the traditional method in English reading is used in Class 293.The empirical instruments include two questionnaires,a pre-test and a post-test.The result of pre-test shows that there is no obvious difference between the experimental class and the controlled class.After the experiencing teaching,the author analyses the result by SPSS17.0 and the data show that there is a significant difference in the reading scores(P=0.034<0.05).Consequently,the hypothesis that the experiencing teaching can significantly improve the effectiveness of Senior English reading teaching in Grade One gets verified.In conclusion,the embodied reading approach in senior high schools can motivate the learners' initiative to participate and experience the reading materials in specific situation,which can also lead to the enjoyable experience of successful reading acquisition.
