In 2001,"Decisions on Reform and Development of Basic Education" and "a Basic Education Curriculum Reform(Trial implementation)were respectively promulgated by the State Council and the Ministry of Education",both the two files emphasize that the curriculum reform should pay attention to the students' interest.The auther is working as a teacher in a rural junior middle school in the city of ZheCheng of HeNan province.During the teaching process,the author finds that it is difficult to improve the students' chemical performance greatly in the second term of Grade 9.Besides,the students generally say that chemistry is hard to study.As a result,their interest in chemistry reduces greatly and their enthusiasm in the class decreases,too.In order to promote the development of chemistry education in rural area,the relevant survies and researches on how to improve the students' interest in chemistry learning and how to promote the education level in the countryside of ZheCheng city to make the students get big progress are urgent.Taking the author's pedagogical practice as a guide,this paper,under the framework of the theory of interest in learning,adopts the forms of interviews and questionnaires to know about the junior middle school students' interest in chemistry learning in the rural areas of ZheCheng country.After a systematic analysis on the reasons,this paper proposes several effective measures to increase the rural junior middle school students' interest in chemistry learningThe contents of this paper are as follows:At first,this paper gives an overall introduction to the research objects,the research content and the research method based on the predecessors' achievements.This research adopts the form of questionnaire.In the preparation of the questionnaire,the chemistry teachers and the students in Grade 9 from two first junior middle schools in the countryside of Li Yuan and Zhang Qiao in Zhecheng county are interviewed.Combined with the existing successful precedents,the "Questionnaire of Rural Middle School Students' Interest in Chemistry Learning" is compiled.In this survey,9 rural middle schools in 6 countrysides in Zhecheng county are investigated,and 652 valid questionnaires are collected.After recording and manipulating the data,the author makes a systematic analysis with the help of the spreadsheets.In the analysis procedure,It gives a multi-dimention analysis on the current situation of the rural junior middle school students' interest in chemistry learning in Zhecheng county,and points out the relevant reasons for it.The results shows that there is a tendency to the interest in chemistry learning among junior middle school students in rural areas of ZheCheng country,but with low statability.At first,the colorful images in the chemical experiments and the widespread useage of chemistry in daily life drew their attention,but after coming into contact with some chemistry concepts,chemistry calculations and the specific fussy chemistry steps in the experiments,they began to lose the interest in chemistry.On the point of view of students,with the relevant knowledge increasing,the content of chemistry study is becoming difficult and boring,which has an influence on the the rural junior middle school students' interest in chemistry learning.In addition,according to the interview results of the teachers,they think it is because the students do not develop a good study habit that causes their chemistry grades to become worse and worse.What's more,both the teachers and the students agree that the most interesting thing in chemistry learning is the experiment.
