Mathematics is a compulsory subject for all students at the secondary school in Malaysia. This is necessitated by the fact that knowledge of Mathematics is essential for all members of society. When students in secondary school complete their secondary school education, they will not be limited in career and advancement but students should be able to learn Mathematics with understanding and therefore be apply Mathematical ideas later in life.This study was done with the purpose to investigate the attitudes' influence towards learning Mathematics by students in Malaysia Chinese Independent Secondary School,Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School in Sabah. The objectives of the study were :a) to determine the attitudes formed by the students towards learning and performance in Mathematics, b) to find out whether such attitudes contributed to inappropriate learning of Mathematics, c) to establish factors which influence attitudes towards learning and performance of Mathematics among secondary school students.This study adopted a descriptive survey design and data was collected, these were administered on a sample of 437 students from six forms of Junior 1 to Senior 3 of Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School. Data collected were coded and subjected to a Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) analysis.In order to get know the status of students' attitudes towards Mathematics learning,interview of individual students concerning this study was been sed as well. Base on tihe analysis of the results of answering questionnaire and interview, a conclusion is drawn that students in Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School have lack of enthusiasm for Mathematics learning especially for the students in facing public examination form, that is Junior 3 Assessment Test, Senior 2 Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia and Senior 3 Independent School Unified Examination.Since everyone agreed saying learning Mathematics is important in our life, the following recommendations are made thus as to lift up the spirit towards attitude in learning Mathematics : a) positive attitudes towards learning and performing well in Mathematics are necessary ingredients in Mathematics education, there is a need for teachers, parents and any other education stake holder to enhance these positive attitudes;b) Mathematics teachers particularly should know precisely how students learnMathemaltics, this will help them to organize and plan for effective teaching and learning of any Mathematical concept; c) Mathematics teachers should wisely utilize available learning resources to enhance positive attitudes, reinforce neutral attitudes, if any, and neutralize any negative attitudes towards learning of Mathematics.
