It is a truth that the average scores of the middle school entrance examination and collegeentrance examination in Hainan is lower than that in other provinces, The attitude ofmathematic learning is one of the most important factors which affects students’ grades.From the analysis of attribution theory, there are a number of factors contributing to thelearning effect, but the attitude is the most unstable one. Therefore, it is vital to enablestudents to treat mathematics with correct attitudes in mathematics teaching. In this article,based on the investigatin on the middle school students’ attitudes towards mathematics inHainan, the author conducts a thorough research, which mainly includes first an analysis ofthe status quo of middle school students’ attitudes towards mathematics learning, second acomparison of students’ attitudes towards mathematics learning in junior middle school andsenior middle school, third a comparison of students’ attitudes towards mathematics learningin two different classes taught by the same mathematics teacher (one class is in the charge ofthe mathematics teacher), fourth a comparison of a the ttitudes towards mathematics learningin outstanding students and slow students, and a comparison of the attitudes towardsmathematics learning between boy students and girl students. Based on above research, theeffective strategies to enable students to treat mathematics learning with positive attitudescould be given.Research methods used in this article includes the methodology of literature review,investigation, quantitative research method etc. what is more, the author makes aquestionnaire of A questionnaire of the attitude towards mathematics learning†according tothe connotation of the learning attitude, which has been carried out among students in HannanWanning middle school, ranging from junior1to senior3. Meanwhile, in order to know moreabout the status quo of middle school students’ attitudes towards mathematics learning, themethod of individual interview also has been used. Last but not the least, based on an analysisof the results of the investigation, the author draws a conclusion that first middle schoolstudents have little interest in mathematics learning, second the students in senior middleschool show a lack of enthusiasm for mathematics leaning while the students in junior middleschool show much, third there is no significant differences between boy students and girlstudents in the attitudes towards mathematics learning, fourth there are significant differencesin the attitudes towards mathematics learning between outstanding students and slow students;and the students in the class in the charge of a mathematics teacher show more enthusiasmfor mathematics learning that the other class. Last but not the least, the effective strategies to enable students to treat mathematicslearning with positive attitude could be given, which not only help students change theirattitudes to mathematics learning, but cultivate their interest in mathematics learning. |
