Nowadays computer and internet technology are changing our life radically,no exception of the education industry.Huge network resources energize the educational innovation,enrich the teaching content and vary the curriculum structures.Foreign language education has been specifically benefited from the construction of network access due to its cross-culture,trans-regional and communication-based features.Either teachers or students have perceived the mighty of change.Utilizing multimedia facilities promotes interaction of teacher-to-student and student-to-student,gives the class a new look and makes learning much efficient.Quite some researches from home and abroad have been conducted on application of network-based educational resources in language pedagogy and fulfilled great achievement.Many results have been applied to guide the teaching assignment daily.However there's little study focusing on the relevant status of middle schools in China's rural area at present.China is on her way of transformation.Over 50 million people need to carry out their urbanization process in the future 20 years.Helping the young people from farming land to lay a solid base of English,allowing them a better opportunity of life and career could support our country stepping into industrialization smoothly.That is the mission of the Chinese educators.Therefore it makes great practical significance to carry out the study on rural schools' English education depending on network educational resources.Based on the related researches,this study takes teachers and students in Ercheng High School as subjects,which is a typical example of rural middle schools in Dabie Mountain Area,and tries to explore the current situation of the application of network-based educational resources in rural middle school English teaching and figure out the advantages and disadvantages in the process of application,in the hope of putting forward some feasible and effective suggestions about how to optimize the application of network-based educational resources in rural middle school English teaching and how to avoid its drawbacks,so as to promote the role of network resources and information technology to effectively serve for the rural middle schools.There are 124 students and 5 teachers in Ercheng High School participating in the questionnaire survey and interview respectively.And this study tries to solve the following three research questions:1.What is the current situation of the application of network-based educational resources in rural middle school English teaching?2.What advantages and disadvantages are there in the application of network-based educational resources in rural middle school English teaching?3.How should we do to optimize the application of network-based educational resources in rural middle school English teaching and how to avoid its drawbacks?Findings of the study can be summarized as follows:1.The network-based educational resources are improved in rural Chinese school remarkably.Both teachers and students are enthusiastic to be involved in this new development but they are facing certain problems to apply it due to certain limitations.The overall implementation and application status of the network-based resources in English teaching is not that optimistic.Relevant skills and capabilities of both teachers and students need to be improved.2.Generally speaking,there are more advantages of applying network-based educational resources in English learning and teaching.English teaching in rural middle school could be better achieved by applying network-based educational resources,although there are some shortcomings of applying the network resources during English learning acknowledged by both teachers and students such as some irrelevant information distracting students' attention,too much relaying on the network resources causing declination of independent thinking ability.3.According to the research findings,some suggestions are proposed to enhance the role of network resources and information technology in rural middle school English teaching.Firstly,further investment from the government management level is very necessary,which refers to not only the substance but more important the constant input at the institutional and policy level.Secondly,the school management needs advancing the concept towards the new teaching model and initiating the standardization of network educational resources within the school.Thirdly,both teachers and students need further training to master and apply the relevant tools better.Last but not the least,via the network resources building up close contacts and regular communication with the urban middle schools brings extra results on English learning.
