Nowadays,the higher education in China is in the conversion from elitism to popularization.The essential issue of higher learning institutions development is the problem to ensure the quality of higher education and optimize training structure of higher learning institutions.Students' Evaluation of Teaching(SET)is one of the major forms to assess teachers' class-teaching effectiveness,as it plays an important role in guarantee the teaching quality in universities.Although the SET has been playing a certain role in guarantee the teaching quality in universities,but it reflected several problems with the implementation of teaching evaluation goes in-depth.People began to thought whether it can be objective in evaluating teaching in classes,thus the effectiveness of the SET has become a focus of attention and research.The students,as the largest beneficiary of education resources consumption as well as one of the major subjects of SET,have the most profound effect on teachers' class-teaching.They are the best qualified to speak on SET.But now the students' attitude is poor to the SET because of their participation of SET was under the school rules and regulations' compulsion.They evaluate the teachers according to their own subjective feelings,which are result in a non-objective level of teaching.Eventually,the effectiveness of SET will be affected,and did not play the regulatory role of the SET should be.This thesis based on the reasons above,makes a deeply research on the factors influencing the effectiveness of SET by the form of questionnaire and interview.The thesis studied on the subject from both direct and indirect aspects.Research results reflected that the attitude of evaluating,the cognitive ability,the psychological and emotional on students',and the characteristics of subjects,the time and approaches of evaluation.Finally,we find that all the factors above can lead to deviations from scientific outcome of SET to some extent,ultimately affect the effectiveness of SET.At last,a series of fundamental measures based on empirical analysis can be taken to improve the SET.It includes that the universities should correct the attitude of teachers and students towards the evaluation of teaching,improve the understanding of SET,constructing scientific and reasonable index system of SET,strengthening the process control,rational use the evaluating results.The aim of these suggestions is to guarantee the quality of higher education and improve the level of talent training in universities.In this study,we need to make further research on remove the irrational components,such as students' attitudes,cognition and emotional factors on student.
