Education reform has become a worldwide topic,and now educators,even parents are begin to pay attention to evaluation that teachers do to the students.In“Reform Program for Basic Curriculums”,education evaluation should be "advocate to establish evaluation system which conforms to the quality education and promotes the development of students comprehensive,discovering and developing the various potential of the students,helping them to know themselves and build self-confidence,of the evaluation of educational functions to enhance learning at the same level of development",now however,the traditional evaluation model has been divorced from the idea of centering on children education for all-around development which is advocated by the present reform of basic-education curriculum.There are many disadvantages in existing form of education evaluation of our country.Based on literature research,this paper introduces connotation and denotation of the performance assessment and geographical spatial thought,and through the investigation of teachers' and students' understanding,puts forward the corresponding teaching strategies.Combined with examples,I will analyze what important role geographical spatial thought plays in the development of students' performance assessment.This paper will be divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,mainly introduces the reason and research significance of study,research status and methods both at home and abroad.The second part is theoretical discussion,introduces the theoretical basis of this study,explains related concepts specific in the paper particularly,and expounds the structure of geography spacial thinking ability.The third part analyzes the necessity and major content of geographical spatial thought to the students,and introduces how performance assessment promote the corresponding teaching strategies of students.The forth part is investigation,mainly introduces questionnaire and interview about teacher's evaluation to the students and investigates their knowledge and application of performance assessment and geographical spatial thought.Teachers usually make traditional evaluation to the students,having less understanding of the importance of geographical spatial though,in the mean time,students show much pressure of traditional evaluation,lacking of geography spacial thinking ability.The fifth part introduces the importance of performance assessment to geography spacial thought and the relationship of performance assessment between portfolio assessment.The last part is the conclusion,introduces the deficiencies of performance assessment and expectation on future research.
