According to cognitive psychology theory and geography curriculum standard,the paper thinks that the construction of high school students' mental map can cultivate the ability of geographical space.Using the students of the first and second grades in our senior high school as subjects in this paper,and psychological map tests were performed on them.The results show that the first and second year students in the geography study,has not yet constructed a small area and large areas of psychological map.Students do not know the basic characteristics of the region.There is a big lack in determining the location,direction,distance estimation of outdoor discrimination,hand-painted area diagram etc..The relevant geographic spatial ability has not been fully trained.The results of questionnaire and the cognitive structure of progressive,multistage and low level to advanced development,the paper proposes that the construction of mental map is also a process of gradual and progressive process.This paper puts forward several stages of mental map construction,including spatial outline input stage,spatial positioning stage,factor overlapping stage and map perfect stage.The construction of two representative mental maps based on the parent map is selected,and the construction process of the stage mental map is described in detail.Finally,the paper designs two cases of instructional design using psychological map teaching method.The paper provides some reference for geography teaching practice.
