Performance assessment is suitable for evaluating students' ability to use and integrate subject knowledge,communication,cooperation,decision-making,problem solving, etc. It is one of the methods for cultivating the core literacy of students in disciplines and virtues. The key to carrying out performance assessment is the task design. This study explores the design principles, sources, and design steps of geographical performance assessment tasks in middle schools. The full text consists of four parts.Part ?,Introduction: The need of the country to develop quality education, personal development needs, the demand of basic education curriculum reform, the demand of new curriculum standard of geography.Performance assessment is to evaluate what students know and can do when they use their knowledge and skills to solve real tasks.Elaborated research background, purpose and significance.Performance evaluation task refers to the task or activity designed to create or simulate the real situation to arouse students' specific thinking and behavior in the process of performance evaluation.Literature review at home and abroad.Identify the core concepts of the thesis research.Based on literature research method, education survey method and action research method.Under the guidance of PDCA(plan-do-check-action)cycle theory,Constructivism Learning Theory and Multiple Intelligences Theory, research on the task design of geographic performance assessment in middle schools.Part two, chapter two: Using literature research method, education survey method and experience summary method. This study yielded 7 design principles: The principle of expansibility, accuracy, authenticity, consistency, procedurality, diversity, creativity. It is clear that the task comes from network resources and offline resources. The design steps are: The first step is to identify learning goals. The second step is to elaborate the task situation and requirements. The third step is to clearly specify the form of work required to complete the task. The fourth step is to determine the scoring rules for the work. The fifth step is to constantly modify and improve the task.Part three, chapters three and four: According to the researched design principles, source of tasks, design steps, carry out performance assessment task design.Get 5 issues to pay attention to and avoid during task design,it is explored through action research method and experience summary method.Decoupling tasks from goals, the assessment task is not real, scoring rules are not practical, assessment task type is monotonous, assessment task is too simple.Using action research, comparative analysis, empirical research on performance assessment tasks in middle school geography teaching, get expected empirical results.Verifies the scientificity and validity of previous research conclusions on design principles, design steps, and task sources;6 major issues to be aware of when performing performance assessment tasks in geography teaching: Focus on the integration of teaching, learning and assessment;emphasize the subject status of students;consider task implementation conditions;teachers' continuous improvement in theory and practice;objective and fair assessment;assessment subject diversity;Significance of implementing performance assessment: Changes in student geography learning, development of student personality, students' learning ability has been improved, teachers' professional ability has also been improved.Part four, chapter five: Summarize research conclusions, rethinking problems in the research process, looking forward to research directions.
