The teaching space is the place that professionals use to carry out teaching activities.Being able to optimize the allocation of educational resources for teaching is very important to the development of the space,teacher,and students.Teaching spaces are not static and rigid;due to the participation of teachers and students,the space needs to allow for flexibility.Therefore,finding ways to achieve optimum,positive teaching spaces in foreign language teaching is an important issue worthy of study.In middle school classrooms in South Korea foreign languages compose a large part of students' standard curriculum,in an attempt to prepare students to compete in the global economy after graduating.The teaching spaces that exist for Chinese and English language acquisition share some commonalities,but each has its own characteristics.In an attempt to prepare students to compete in a global economy upon graduation,South Korea's middle schools require Chinese and English to be incorporated in students' standard curriculum.The teaching spaces that exist for Chinese and English language acquisition share some commonalities,but each has its own characteristics.The West Middle School in Daegu metropolitan city is an example.Firstly,the author will analyze West Middle School's foreign language teaching situation in regards to Chinese and English.Secondly,the author,based on her own experience teaching language at the school,will provide a detailed comparison and analysis,and explore the ideal foreign language teaching space mode.Finally,while considering the interaction between teaching space and teaching activities,it will allow the author to investigate how to manage and optimize the teaching space for more efficient foreign language teaching and learning.
