Primary school stage is not only the elementary stage of students' learning,but also it is the golden period of cultivating their language ability.It is very essential for children to improve their language proficiency and develop their learning potential in terms of English learning of the stage.And it will contribute to their improvement of comprehensive language.However,in reality,teaching approach is out of date and teaching mode is single in a number of primary school,which leads to a dull atmosphere of classroom.The aim of English learning is to test instead of communication in English as a tool.There is no enough interest to learn English and they gain English knowledge and develop English skill by rote in the process of English learning.The Natural Approach is able to maximize the expansion of students' language input.The input process is intelligible and it reflects natural feature.Besides,the Natural Approach is mainly based on all kinds of acquisition activities.Teachers can create a relaxing and natural learning atmosphere,which it can reduce effectively emotional filter.What's more,it improves students' motivation and interest because of tolerance of errors.The research questions include: firstly,whether it is feasible to apply the Natural Approach in primary schools based on the theory of the Natural Approach?;secondly,whether it is helpful to improve students' interest in primary school and to increase their grade in practice?.In this study,questionnaires,observation of classes and examinations were employed to carry out an empirical study for more than 4 months.Students in grade 5 who are from two parallel classes are chosen as the subject in the process of the study.One is experimental class.Another is control class.The author uses the Natural Approach to teach in experimental class according to students' cognitive character and learning habit.The study shows that the scores of the experimental class are better than those of the control class.Compared with the results before the experiment,the great changes have taken place.It concludes that the Natural Approach can stimulate students' interest and improve their enthusiasm indeed.The students' scores in the experimental class have been improved obviously and the result is satisfactory.
