Application Of Task-based Approach To English Reading Teaching For Grade Nine Students

Reading is one of the most important ways of language input,so reading teaching plays an important role in language learning.However,because of the real situation of English teaching for grade nine and the features of senior high entrance exam papers,it's easier and easier for students to lose scores in reading comprehension and teachers also feel doubtful for traditional reading teaching methods.The new Curriculum Standards projects English teachers to use TBLT in reading teaching.Then after a period of learning of related theories,the writer hopes that some problems which have been questioned for a long time can be solved,and at the same time,the research can provide other teachers with help about TBLT in their daily reading teaching.Aiming at this problem,the thesis discusses the following questions under New Curriculum Standard and theories of SLA and Constructivism: 1.What factors affect English reading ability of grade nine students? 2.Can teachers improve reading abilities of grade nine students by using TBLT in English reading teaching? 3.What are the advantages and disadvantages of English reading teaching with TBLT for grade nine students?Under related theories,the research begins.After series of questionnaires,reading tests,data analysis,listening and evaluating classes and interview with students,the conclusion is obvious.Based on the Five Dimensions of New Curriculum Standard and degree requirements of TBLT,and focused on all kinds of reading activities,the predicted goals of helping students to gain knowledge,methods and skills can be achieved,which is proved by the research.However,every coin has two sides.TBLT is also limited in some aspects.So in order to promote reading teaching,teachers should go on exploring and improving in their future teaching.
