It's well known that English writing has been a great problem which troubles English teachers in rural junior high school for a long time.For English low achievers,writing is undoubtedly the weakest one of four basic skills due to their poor English foundation,small vocabularies,poverty of expressing contents and etc.Therefore,based on Krashen's input theory and Swain's output theory,the researcher is to explore the relationship between recitation input and English low achievers' writing competence in rural junior high school.To solve English low achievers' writing problems in rural junior high school,the author has put forward three research questions:1.Can recitation input effectively change English low achievers' negative attitude towards English writing in rural junior high school? 2.Can recitation input help English low achievers reduce their spelling mistakes and improve their ability of properly using vocabularies,grammar as well as sentence patterns in English writing? 3.Can recitation input effectively enhance English low achievers' writing competence in rural junior high school? The participants of this research are from two classes of Grade 9 in Shahe Middle school from Shahe Town of Ganzhou city.The experiment lasted 12 weeks.Before the experiment,a pre-test was carried out in the experimental class(EC)and controlled class(CC).Then the experiment of adopting recitation input started in the experimental class.Finally,a post-test was conducted between the two classes.Besides,a questionnaire was conducted among the students in the two classes and some of them were required to give an interview in order to have a deep understanding of their opinions on English writing as well as recitation input.The data from the experiment is analyzed by the means of SPSS16.0.The results of the experiment show that students' writing score of the experimental class is significantly higher than that of the controlled class after adopting the recitation input experiment.Besides,through the analysis of questionnaire and interview,the author finds that many students including ordinary students and English low achievers have changed their negative attitude towards English writing and begun to hold positive attitude towards recitation input.Thus it can be seen that recitation input is an effective way to improve English low achievers' writing competence in rural junior high school.Though there are some limitations in this research such as small number of samples and short experimental time,the research has offered some meaningful implications for teaching in rural junior high school.Finally,the author sincerely hopes that more educators and English low achievers can recognize recitation input and then attach importance to it,for recitation input is an effective and efficient way to enhance their English writing competence as well as their general English level.
