For the relation between language input and output, language input is the prerequisite of output, which means if language input is not adequate, then there will be no output. As a major medium of language input, recitation is the key to foreign language acquisition and communication. Therefore, this study made a in-depth research of the recitation and aims to explore its impact on the English writing teaching in middle school.Guided by the recitation input and output theory, the study intends to answer three questions: 1)What is the attitude of English teachers and students in Junior Middle School to apply the recitation input into the daily English teaching? 2)Can the recitation input help students’ vocabulary and grammar? 3)What effects will recitation input have on the English writing in Junior school? The author takes 80 students in two classes of grade one of Dalian city Jinshitan experimental school as participants that are divided into experimental class(EC)and control class(CC).Using questionnaire, examination before test, classroom recitation, examination after test, interview and the like, the author has systematically discussed and analyzed the recitation input teaching method. The study obtained the following findings: firstly,a great majority of teachers and students hold positive attitude toward the recitation input teaching;secondly, the recitation input can promote the writing ability of junior middle school students. It is obvious that students make great progress in word spelling, sentences, grammar and the like;thirdly,it proves that the experimental class is obviously higher than the control class, which shows it is feasible to put the recitation input teaching method into daily teaching in Junior school in order to promote the students’ language competence. This study has enlightenment and reference for English writing teaching in junior middle school: firstly, reciting should be based on students’ understanding of the vocabulary and language structure rather than forcing them to recite;secondly, reciting is a monotonous and boring task,so it is a good way for teachers to have a detailed plan and use different methods in order to arouse the enthusiasm of the students and teachers should give timely feedback to the student to build self-confidence;thirdly,the selected materials should not be too difficult nor too easy and instead should be moderately easy, logical, lively and interesting;finally, reciting input is not omnipotent, therefore it can not solve all the problems.Teachers should consider the factors such as students’ level, their individual differences and then combine with other teaching methods in order to reach the better teaching effects.
