Rhythmic gymnastics is a new event in our country.The aim of the rhythmic gymnastics is to enhance students' physique and improve their accomplishment of sports culture.Since August 2013,the judges and coaches training courses of national sports artistic events which held by Federation of University Sports of China has been joined in popularization and promotion of the rhythmic gymnastics events for the first time.In 2013 November,the "Chinese University Students Health & Vigor Competition" held by Chinese Students Association of Rhythmic Gymnastics and Aerobics has also been joined the rhythmic gymnastics competition.In September 2015,Xinjiang performed the first the rhythmic gymnastics training after suspending rhythmic gymnastics events for 35 years.On the one hand,we randomly selected 34 female students of 2015 non-sports majors to carry on the one-year rhythmic gymnastics teaching experiment by means of the psychological measurement,the body measurement and the teaching experiment.Through the experiment,we discussed the effects of rhythmic gymnastics teaching and training on female students' body shape,bodily functions,flexibility and mental health;on the other hand,through the survey of the literatures,we randomly selected 50 students from 12 general universities in Xinjiang and investigated them with questionnaires.A total of 600 female students of public P.E.optional class and the sports arts teachers in all universities were investigated.The research investigated the cognition,learning and curriculum installation,assessment and other aspects.At the same time,it analyzed the feasibility of establishing the public P.E.rhythmic gymnastics optional courses in general universities.The results show:The majority of teachers and students in Xinjiang general universities realize the rhythmic gymnastics through television programs and theatrical performances;the grasp of characteristics and functions of the events are more accurate;the will of further understanding is strong,and no teachers and students reject the event;students and teachers of Xinjiang general universities are eager to establish rhythmic gymnastics courses.The teachers advocate that the main form should be one-year optional class,so that students can understand deeply about the theory of rhythmic gymnastics event by means of multimedia,and the main form of practice part should be a relatively simple bare-hand routine teaching of rhythmic gymnastics,then add the hand appartus teaching in the second semester.The main form of final assessment is to improve students' innovation ability.These are sufficient to show the importance and necessity of establishing rhythmic gymnastics courses in the universities.After a 26-week experiment,the aspect of physical health: the body fat,ci rcumference and other test indexes of the subjects were decreased,but the dif ference was not significant;the cardiovascular function was significantly impro ved;the vital capacity was significantly enhanced,which explained that the ae robic metabolism capacity of the subjects was enhanced and the elasticity of t he lung and thorax was increased;the hemoglobin content changed significantl y,which explained that aerobic endurance of the subjects was increased and t he exercise state was better;the flexibility was enhanced significantly,which explained that the pliability,movement range and artistic expression were impr oved;the aspect of mental health: the body self-esteem of the subjects was si gnificantly improved,and both of the personal athletic ability and physical sel f-worth were increased significantly;the reasons for participating in exercise a re not limited to shape a good body and control weight,but to focus more o n the importance of enhancing the fitness;social physical anxieties was decrea sed slightly,but it did not have statistical significance.
