Case Work Intervention Studies In Patients With Senile Depression

With the advent of an aging society,there is a growing concern for the health and life quality of the elderly.Meanwhile,in order to better cope with various social problems caused by the aging elderly and to help people spend a happy old life,the whole society is paying more and more attention on the mental health of the elderly.Depression is the most common mental illness in the elderly,and has become a serious public health problem in today's society.To help the elderly patients with depression,we not only need to concern about them at the spiritual and physical level,but also,to pay more attention to their social integration.Literature review shows that at present,most studies on depression focus on the diagnosis of depression,etiology,clinical features of senile depression,its treatment and care.There are few studies on social work Intervening in senile depression and there is even less study on the depression of the elderly and their social integration.Among the limited previous studies,most studies just focus on social work intervention for senile depression from a macro point of view and just put forward the social work mode and some work methods rather than make an in-depth analysis on how such direct services improved the situation of elderly patients with depression in the specific operation.Every elderly patient is different in the problem they are faced in and manifests differently,so while using social intervention on the elderly patients with depression,flexible methods should be adopted to make different working methods.Taking an old man from the community in Xicheng District in Beijing as research object,this paper studied on how to help the client by using social work intervention.The purpose of the research includes: firstly to relieve the client's mood,enhance his confidence so as to improve his interpersonal relationship,and then to explore his own advantages and resources,to build a social support network for the client,finally to help the owner back to a normal social life.Through literature review,participant observation,case interview,the causes of elderly depression were analyzed and a service plan was made based on my experience of practical service work,and case work intervention was conducted for the elderly man with depression.The study found that for elderly patients with depression,family,peer groups,social support plays a vital role.Therefore,the role of social support network must be brought into play in the process of applying case work to the elderly patients with depression.to provide macro and micro service for the elderly patients with depression.It is hoped that the research will provide some reference for the elderly social workers and provide the basis for the government to make relevant policies and measures for the elderly.
