Based on the function of modern universities,as the core of the soul of the university——a professor,Collection of three kinds of role of educators?researchers and intellectuals,Different social roles require a university professor to take on different responsibility and mission,Especially socialmission.Under the professional knowledge and the western post—modernism,some scholars claim that the present professor at the university ofsense of responsibility of socialis gone.Intellectuals have vanished in the campus.So at the present,whether the professor's responsibility and the mission of social is just the people unresolved grief? Or just a role expectation of idealized to a professor at the university?Obviously,a simple "binary opposition" modernization thought has been unable to explain the relation of the present university professors and social of complexity and hard.In fact,professors fulfill the mission of social and the academic works are not in conflict,this is just different development stage of life pursuit of spiritual value.Zhou Hong-yu was born in 50 s and experienced the culture revolution,educated youth to the countryside,restore the university entrance exam,Zhou Hong-yu clearly belongs to the later three or new three generations of the six generations of Chinese intellectuals,it is the "cultural revolution",have experience of red guards and the countryside,through self-study,Become the first generation of college studentsin China,the current China's intellectual elite and guides.This paperbased on professor hong-yu zhou as a case,using education life narrative method,interview method to analysis him inside and outside within the professional,in social services and political participation aspects how to practice,a professor of intellectual social care and responsibility consciousness.To explore the characteristics of a new generation of Chinese intellectuals: relying on professional knowledge and have a practice of "transcendental and intervention" spirit.zhou hong-yu was chosen as a case study object,this is due to he across the academic and political,He is both a university professor and a National People's congress,he is an education scholar and a political official,has the typical characteristics of a new generation of Chinese intellectuals.The study found that represented by Zhou Hong-yu,heis the basic growth of intellectuals in the University system,received systematic professional academic training,But they are different from the general knowledge or technical experts,On his body,it has the professor's professional ability,the scholar's universal feelings and intellectual's spiritual characters.Which is the typical modern intellectual image;On the one hand,thorough system to actively participate in social and political life,with their own professional ability to influence government decisions,for the society and the people.On the other hand cannot swayed by system again,keep their own independent personality spirit.The author is not concluded a definite conclusion by this study,the only intention is through the case study of a university professor of direction within the system to understand the value,inherent characteristics and individual journey of contemporary Chinese intellectual.Under "era of change" in China within the system,a professor at the university for the people's struggle journey and value pursuit,spy a professor at the university is how to implement "transcendental and intervention" of professional and acting on thesocial mission.
